The Department is responsible for the regulation of radioactive materials and radiation-related matters, quality assurance of the national tests or examinations on biological products, and management of the institute-wide network system.

DIVISION OF RADIATION CONTROL AND BIOLOGY
The division supervises the Institute community in all radiation related matters, and regulates radioactive materials to safeguard both the worker and the general public under the law concerning preventation of radiation hazards due to radioisotopes. The division is also responsible for giving specialized training to the worker in the radiological protected area. The research on basic biology and medical science including molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology and genetics with the application of radioactive materials are going on.
DIVISION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE
The division handles the quality management system, measurement standards and regulation that should be observed during the test procedure, and supervises on managing the standard materials, and on estimating the accuracy and rationality of the test methods. The international coordination regarding quality assurance of biological products, e.g. international harmonization of the test methods, is conducted.
DIVISION OF INFORMATION SYSTEM
The division is responsible for the construction, operation and management of the institute-wide network system for researchers, as well as supervises the cybersecurity management of all information systems in the institute. It also works as CSIRT (Cyber Security Incidence Response Team) officers to take the primary action and follow-up measures against a cyber security incidence when it occurs. It is also conducting molecular and structural biological analyses of infectious agents using computers and applied research to medicine and epidemiology.
