'Project for Lifestyle-related Diseases Prevention
Project for Shoku-iku


Nutritional Education Program
This program undertakes the researches on "Shokuiku"* for controlling childhood obesity, as well as on diets of the middle-aged/elderly. Working with the nutrition specialists in the clinical/education fields, the program aims to develop the effective nutritional education methods and also to prove their impacts.
  • Project for Dietary Care and Management

    This project undertakes the researches on the effective methods and evaluation of the dietary care and management system for an early detection of the undernourished elderly including at risk groups, and also for providing the tailor-made services.

  • Project for Lifestyle-related Diseases Prevention

    Among the causes of lifestyle-related diseases, this project focuses on obesity and undertakes the intervention studies to control/prevent obesity, using the combined behavioral approaches of exercise and diet.

  • Project for "Shokuiku"*

    This project reviews the scientific evidences useful for the promotion of "Shokuiku"*, and undertakes the researches on childhood obesity and the development/evaluation of nutritional education methods. In addition, the researches on methods of training and information dissemination for the registered dietitians who are actively involved in "Shokuiku" are implemented.






    * In Japanese, "shoku" means food and diet, and "iku" means education.
    Generally, "Shokuiku" is defined as "Promotion of learning on the healthy diet from an early stage, in particular on the choice of foods, so as to secure the healthy living over the course of one's life".
